Maralee Eriksen Placer County DUI Defense Lawyer

Maralee (MacDonald) Eriksen devotes much of her civil practice to administrative hearings and to associating with solo and small firm attorneys on business litigation matters involving business torts, shareholder disputes, and commercial contracts.  Examples of her recent civil litigation support work include assisting a small firm practitioner through extensive discovery, law and motion, and trial preparations for a seven-figure business tort matter, ending in favorable settlement after the first phase of trial.

Ms. Eriksen began her career as a federal law clerk in Wyoming.  She then worked as a civil litigation associate for a prominent firm in the Rocky Mountain Region. She also served as a City Prosecutor.  Building on her criminal trial experience, she joined a Sacramento firm, where she built a complex commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation practice.  She was the first female shareholder at the firm, which grew to become one of the largest firms in the city.  After fifteen years with the firm, most of them as a partner, she opened her own law practice. As a hearing officer, she has conducted due process hearings in mental health facilities.  She also has conducted evidentiary hearings and issued decisions in county-level administrative appeals regarding a wide variety of issues, including code enforcement, cannabis regulation, and public employee discipline.

Ms. Eriksen has been recognized by Super Lawyers - Northern California, starting in 2009 and 2010 as a Rising Star and from 2011 through 2014 and 2016 to 2022 as a Super Lawyer. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.  Each year, five percent of lawyers in the state are selected for recognition as Super Lawyers.

Ms. Eriksen has served as leader in national, state, and local bar associations.  She has volunteered with the Legal Service of Northern California's legal aid clinics serving low-income individuals.  She has also served as an officer of her neighborhood board of the Girl Scouts of the Heart of Central California.  She has taught college and continuing education courses for paralegals on legal reserach and writing.
